Paintings from 2019

Paintings from 2019, inspired by me & you!

Here's one that I started just before Christmas 2018, but finished today, Jan 2, 2019. It was a commissioned painting of a really strange photo-I will post the photo first...
This looks like a wrecked canoe, right? It was actually 2 or more photos that the client's camera superimposed on top of each other. The canoe was in pristine condition.
Here is my rendition, acrylic on a 16x20" stretched canvas. I think it turned out well.

Then I got back into another doggie painting, that I call "A cup of love"

How cute is he?

A friend asked me to paint her friend's dog, Harlem, who had passed. This was done on an 8" diameter wooden disc & framed.  As with many bulldogs, she has "cherry" eye, which I included upon request. And you can't forget about her tongue! A common trait of the bulldog.

Next, I updated the mailbox lid for Grandma Shirley. It was getting pretty worn, so I replaced the yellow finch with a pink peony, one of her favorite flowers.

In February, I painted this for Ashlynn-see below & try to guess who it is!

I painted the above for Ashlynn, because I painted the following for Olivia about 2 weeks before. You'll have to guess who he is too.

Back at some paintings in August- first is heavy body acrylic on a piece of roof slate. see below:

Next in Sept, is from a photo taken at Hartley Bay on the French River this summer. see below:

Here's the photo reference to the right

And now, September, another commissioned painting. This is Bucky, an Aussie, who sadly passed away. First is the photo I worked from:

and here is my rendition: I think it turned out pretty good.

For my brother's 70th, I painted his cat Max, who has travelled over the Rainbow Bridge.

Next, I'm painting Jesse, a commission by my niece. A pit-bull/boxer who was a rescue, but only lived a short while.

Here is the original photo

 And below is my rendition

I like how he turned out. The background looks like sand,

and that's where he and his rescue parent hung out a lot.

My latest painting is of a teacup Chihuahua, named Bella,

who sadly died in September at 14-1/2 months, way too young.

Next, I was commissioned to paint a picture of a cottage where this woman's kids went to years ago. In addition, she wanted a family pet in the picture, who had died before the photo was taken. He is to the right at the bottom of the painting. I don't normally do people in paintings, so this was a challenge. The customer was happy with my efforts, so that is all that matters. Maybe I'll do another one in the future?

Another commission, this is a painting of another Chihuahua, named Memi pronounced Mem-ee. He went over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. When he was adopted, he had been neglected and had to have his teeth removed, and the tongue sticking out was kind of his trademark!

I got asked by Ashlynn to paint her family's dog, Ruby. So this really is the last one for 2019. I'm giving it to her today, Dec 26th.
