| After a long hiatus in 2020 where I painted nothing, I made a commitment to paint at least one painting a month. Today is Dec 25th & I've painted 30! Wowser! | |||

| Here's one that I call Deep Freeze. It was inspired by a photo that my cousin used for her cover photo-see below, and keep in mind that I'm an artist, not a camera! LOL | |||

| For my next painting, for some reason I got fixated on the movie Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, and all the trials & tribulations that Richard Dreyfus went thru until he clued in that his pile of mashed potatoes was really the Devils Tower in Wyoming. This one I am naming: Mashed Potato Mountain! | |||
![]() |
| And my third painting was also inspired by a photo from my cousin, again! Keep them coming, Pam! | |||

| My rendition turned out not too shabby, and I named it Lake Margaret Ruined, in honor of the small minded people who 'salted' a pond that kids were using to skate on! What utter jerks! | |||
| For the 4th painting in Feb, I came across this photo, which really reminds you of Nature's wrath | |||
| And this is my rendition. The river gave me fits, but the rest was fun to paint. Entitled "Hello Darkness, My Old Friend" | |||

| A friend sent me a photo of northern lights in Alberta, so I thought I would give it a shot- here's the photo & my take. Not too shabby, I guess. | |||

| Another Northern Lights painting & also a tribute to the artist who inspired me to start painting in 1991, Bob Ross. His mountains & scenery were always my favorites. He painted with oils, and I use acrylic, so our methods are kind of different, but I certainly learned a lot by watching his shows. RIP, Bob. Gone way too soon at 52 in 1995. | |||
![]() An 11x14" stretched canvas, covered in black, blue & a wee bit of red. The beginning of the painting that I call "Mr Ross"
![]() |
| This is kind of my homage to Bob Ross, in my rendition of the mountains & foreground details. The Northern Lights are my addition, (and maybe my addiction, LOL) and are certainly difficult to get right. All in all, enjoyable to paint, yet frustrating as well. Took about 5 days, but without the lights, would have been done in 2. Ha ha. And by days, I mean a few hours a day- 2-3 hrs. Calling it Mr Ross, acrylic on 11x14" stretched canvas, and of course, it's for sale. Ha ha | |||
| Below is a painting that almost made it to life, but it just didn't seem as realistic as the final one. | |||

| Now for something different. Ashlynn wanted a painting of Steve Harvey, so what are you gonna do when a grandkid asks for something? Right! Anyway, here is my rendition. I think that I did him justice. Do you? | |||

| And now another doggie painting- Bandit, who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge way too soon. Did this for one of Olivia's friends, who wants to gift it to her mother. RIP Bandit | |||

Time to re-paint the summertime
mailbox lid- it was a bit outdated.

![]() Painted on a piece of slate from Ipperwash- Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia- a painting for Raemie |
| Below is the 1/2 a 2021 painting. To the left is one I did in 2017- On the right is a photo that my daughter took last summer at Ipperwash. | |||

And this is the result, which is
why it's a 1/2 of a 2021 & 1/2 of a 2017! I also brightened the sun
a bit & made the reflection a little wavier.

| So on Apr 20-21, 2021 we got hit with about 4 inches of snow! I had started painting this one on the 20th- Very apropos, right? 7"X5" Ipperwash slate- April Fool Snow! | |||
![]() |
| Finished this on another piece of Ipperwash slate, about 7x7" on May 22nd. It is a wire-tailed manakin & is a species of bird in the family Pipridae. It forms a superspecies with both the Band-tailed Manakin and the Crimson-hooded Manakin | |||

| I saw a photo on a news feed in Facebook, and used it as the inspiration for this one. Horses are strange looking creatures, aren't they. Big body & head, and small legs. My wife thought that this was the sea crashing against rocks, but it's a cliff overlooking a valley, far below & a very unsettled sky. | |||
![]() |
| I saw the photo above on a FB feed from a friend, and thought that it would be easy to paint. Ha Ha. Not quite. The sand gave me fits. But I like how my rendition turned out. Caling this one: "Good Morning, Canada!" | |||

| Biscuit (Kobe) on left, Brownie (Molly) on the right. Such cute little pups, but judging by the size of their paws, they won't stay little very long! lol | |||
![]() |
| Molly & Kobe....Here is my rendition. I hope that I did them proud. I'm happy with how it turned out. This is a 9x12" stretched canvas, & painted with acrylics. | |||

| Photo on left taken by grandson Will in August, & he asked me to try & paint it. I think that it turned out pretty good. Peggy's Cove as seen from Polly's Cove. | |||
| Below is another commission by another FB friend, 2 apple head Chihuahuas. First is Darwin, on the left: | |||

| And then we have James Brown, named because he was so cool! | |||
| And then, finished yesterday, just squeaking in for Sept, is another beach scene, titled Whipped Cream on the Beach. Ha Ha | |||
![]() Sent to me by a FB friend who challenged me to give this a go! |
![]() I had to channel my inner Monet for the reflection, and used a Blue Noir iridescent paint to give the water some "pop". Fun to paint, and again, I'm an artist, not a camera, so I have some leeway. |
![]() From a FB friend's newsfeed- What I'm calling Autumn Glory- My rendition is below: |
![]() |
| A few commissions that I did for Christmas are shown below: | |||
![]() This is Myla, a 7 yr old Chihuahua |
![]() Then I painted a Whippet named Sultan |
![]() Followed by a pair of doggies, named Chopper & Dora |
![]() This was done for the daughter of my client, showing some of her favourite quotes or sayings |
And then back to painting a couple of
scenes for my son & his girlfriend. First up for Jeff is a
lighthouse on Panmure Island, PEI
Then I painted a scene based on a photo that Angie took on one of their trips in the north country
| Unless I forgot one, that was it for 2021. It was a busy year. | |||
